The Grahame Begg trained All Silent will head to the Brisbane Winter Carnival if he runs well in the All Aged Stakes

Grahame Begg has confidence that there’s one more Group 1 victory on the cards for his seven-year-old All Silent but it all hinges on his performance in this Saturday’s All Aged Stakes at Randwick.

If the dual Group 1 winner puts in a good run then he’ll likely be sent north to have a crack at the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

His first up run this year was in the TJ Smith Stakes where he was a well beaten 8th, however Black Caviar and Hay List put a space on every other runner in the field as well.

Begg was happy enough with the run and says only a wet track would now stop him from running .

“I believe he certainly has another Group 1 in him,” Begg said.

“He ran a nice race behind Black Caviar the other day. His sectionals throughout the race were very good and he cracked 46 seconds for the last 800m, which was pleasing.

“It was his first run since a good break and to finish on the heels of the placegetters was a good effort.

“I expect him to race well, but if the track is anything like it was last Saturday he won’t be running.”

All Silent is horse known in quite a few racing circles, he’s run in Dubai and in Hong Kong but is without a victory since his Group 1 Patinack Farm triumph in November of 2009.

The same year he contested the Doomben 10,000 in Brisbane and despite running into a wet track he run on well down the outside fence late to finish third behind Apache Cat.

Surprisingly that is the only start he’s had in Brisbane and Begg is planning on a similarly short winter campaign this year as well.

“We’ll see how he goes Saturday, but the plan is to run him in the 10,000 again,” Begg said.

“Depending how he goes there we may look at the Stradbroke. We’ll just see what happens.”

Brenton Avdulla has been booked to ride All Silent for the crucially important All Aged Stakes this Saturday at Randwick.
