A capacity field of 16 for 2017 Inglis Sires’

A capacity field of sixteen two-year-olds plus four emergencies make up the final field for the 2017 Group 1 $1m Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick on day one of ‘The Championships’ on Saturday.

Golden Slipper runner up Frolic and third placegetter Tulip are set to clash again when they meet in the Inglis Sires’.

The Michael Freedman trained Frolic was out of luck at the barrier draw, coming up with gate sixteen but could move in three spots with three of the four emergencies drawing inside of her with Tommy Berry in the saddle again.

Tulip is one of two runners from the Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig and had luck on her side when the barriers were drawn and could jump from the pole position after third emergency Merchant Navy drew the inside gate.

The Lindsay Park Team also have first emergency Feng Chu who drew barrier five with Mark Zahra to ride if he gains a place in the Inglis Sires’ field.

Co-trainers Peter and Paul Snowden will also have two runners in the Inglis Sires’ with Gunnison and Invader who crossed the line together to quinella the Group 2 $300,000 UNSW Todman Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 4.

Invader was forced out of the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 18 because of a stone bruise in his off fore hoof but has recovered and has drawn barrier four with Hugh Bowman to ride.

Gunnison didn’t have as much luck as his stablemate at the barrier draw, coming up with the fourteen marble with Blake Shinn taking the mount again.

Trainer Gerald Ryan will saddle three runners in the Inglis Sires with Chauffeur, Menari and Trapeze Artist all coming off a last start run in the Golden Slipper.

Menari was the best of the Ryan runners in the Golden Slipper, finishing fourth and will be ridden again by Corey Brown from barrier eleven.

Tim Clark rides Golden Slipper sixth placegetter Trapeze Artist who has drawn barrier three while Chauffeur has drawn the outside barrier again, (barrier 20, Josh Parr) after jumping from outside gate in the sixteen horse Golden Slipper field before finishing ninth to She Will Reign.

Trainer John O’Shea will also have multiple runners in the Inglis Sires‘ with Veranillo and Astoria.

Veranillo draw okay at barrier six with ‘The Magic Man’ Joao Moreira to take the ride while Astoria was completely out off luck with barrier nineteen in the original draw with James Doyle to ride.
