Bowman went into the Prime Minister’s Cup on the back of wins on Taking Aim in the Ken Russell Memorial Classic and Dawn Wall in the Gold Coast Bracelet, but his ride on Religify may have been the best of the lot.

Religify took up the running early, but he was quickly crossed by Lucky Tom and Jeff Lloyd made an early move on Siegfried to sit just outside the leader.

Bowman got going a long way from home on Religify and the dominant favourite did not looked to be responding as Siegfried kicked two lengths clear in front.

The leading hoop made the decision to take Religify back to the rail and it was here when the Choisir gelding responded – with the six-year-old catching a brave Siegfried in the shadows of the post to claim a memorable Prime Minister’s Cup win.

Trainer Chris Waller is yet to determine the path that Religify will follow during the 2017 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, but he has been included in the nominations for the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) that will be held at Eagle Farm on June 10.

Siegfried lost no admirers with his brave performance, while Godolphin galloper Federal hit the line fairly to finish third.
