Trainer Mick Price informed Racing Victoria Stewards that Tarzino had slight swelling in his near side front leg and they issued a statement via twitter that the four year old would have to undergo a veterinary inspection on race morning.

“Tarzino -Slight swelling in the left front trainer and vet will assess again in the morning,” Racing Victoria Stewards tweeted.

Tarzino is rated a $31 chance for the Caulfield Cup with Ladbrokes.com.au and has been struggling to find his three year old form that netted him two Group 1 trophies.

During his three year old season Tarzino claimed the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington during the 2015 Melbourne Spring Carnival and then during the Sydney Autumn Carnival won the Group 1 $600,000 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at Rosehill.

Tarzino has failed to impress at four Spring Carnival runs which included a first up eighth to Black Heart Bart in the Group 1 $500,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 27 followed by a tenth to Palentino in the Group 1 $500,000 PFD Food Services Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 10.

At his next start Tarzino was always well back when eighth to Black Heart Bart again in the Group 1 $500,000 Hyland Race Colours Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 24 and then finished midfield when sixth to Hartnell in the Group 1 $500,000 Yellowglen Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 2.

Regular rider Craig Newitt is booked to ride Tarzino who has drawn nicely at barrier four in the eighteen horse Caulfield Cup field.
