But Racing Victoria has advised that the Good 4 rating only extends out 10m from the inside running rail in the straight with the section from 10m to 14m rated a soft 6 while further out from the 14m mark to the outside fence rated a soft 5.

Racing Victoria also advised that the rail has been moved from Saturday’s true position to be 2m out for the entire course after the inside section of the track was deemed to be far superior on Derby Day.

“The rail has been moved out 2 metres from the true position to eliminate the area that was quickest in the straight on Saturday. The grass profile on the inside 2 metres had a thinner coverage of grass due to the kikuyu profile,” Racing Victoria released in a statement.

“No irrigation has been applied to the racetrack which has received 0.8 mm of rain up to 6pm on Monday.”

Track manager Mick Goodie said the weather forecast is looking good and he didn’t foresee any rain during the day and expects the entire track will continue to improve in the countdown to the Emirates Melbourne Cup.

Japanese stayer Fame Game remains at the top of the market order but continues to drift and this morning is marked at $4,80 ahead of Caulfield Cup runner up Trip To Paris at $7.50.

On the third line of betting is the first of Sydney’s premiership winning trainer Chris Waller’s three runners, Preferment at $9.50.

Waller’s other two runners are last year’s Melbourne Cup third placegetter Who Shot Thebarman at $21 and Sydney Cup winner Grand Marshall at $51.
