Adam Blencowe has Streama on top of his 2014 Doomben Cup tips, but the leading form analyst does not believe there is great value available in the betting market for the Group 1 event in Brisbane this weekend.

Streama stamped herself as the favourite for the 2014 Doomben Cup with a comfortable win in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m), which was successfully tipped by Blencowe, and according to connections had thrived heading into the $500,000 on Saturday.

Blencowe believes that the Stratum mare is the horse to beat, but admits that she is at just about her right price at her current Doomben Cup odds of $4.20.

“It is not entirely dissimilar to the Hollindale, where we thought if Streama turns up and runs to her best figures it is hers to lose,” Blencowe told RSN.

“I don’t think that there is a query at 2000 metres either and I think that she probably deserves her places at the top of the market, but it is super competitive.

“It is hard to find an edge against this market.”

Leebaz and Akzar have both been well-backed in Doomben Cup betting markets, after scoring wins in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) and Listed Warrnambool Cup (2350m), respectively and punters currently rated the pair as the main dangers to Streama.

Blencowe said that you have to respect the form of both horses coming into the race, but does not feel that either gelding represents good value at their current quote.

“I would have thought that Akzar is up against it, he is obviously flying and I hate to pop the horse, but I think that this is probably a test,” Blencowe said.

“Leebaz has a really nice profile for the race and comes off Hawkesbury like Beaten Up did to win this race last year.

“Whilst his figures are a little bit down on what Beaten Up did last year at Hawkesbury, his effort was good and he is obviously lightly-raced and has a terrific profile, but I can’t find a bet on the race and I don’t think that Leebaz is any value there.

“At the same time I think that he is a nice profile and I am no pot on him.”

Streama ($4.20) remains a narrow favourite in 2014 Doomben Cup betting markets from Leebaz ($4.40), Akzar ($4.80) and Junoob ($5).
