The new Lindsay Park training partnership of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have nominated Dibayani and Tashbeeh for the Group 3 $150,000 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.

David Hayes’ son Ben has been the foreman in charge of Lindsay Park’s South Australian operation for the last six months but has had his name added to the Lindsay Park partnership for the start of the new racing season that begins this week.
The Victoria Racing Club has extended the nomination deadline for the Aurie’s Stars Handicap until 10am on Tuesday August 2 after Irish import Dibayani and improving five year old Tashbeeh were two of only fourteen original entries.
Dibayani has performed well for Lindsay Park during the 2016 Sydney Autumn Carnival and will be having his first start since running ninth to Lucia Valentina in the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on April 9, th scond day of ‘The Championships’.
The Shamardal gelding was amongst the prrizemoney at his two previous starts with a second to Winx in the Group 1 $600,000 Precise Air Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on February 27 followed by a fourth to The United States in the Group 1 $700,000 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on March 19.
Tashbeeh has been working his way up through the classes with his best recent run being a fourth to Assign in the Listed $120,000 Mornington BMW Cup Prelude (2000m) at Caulfield on February 27.
Tashbeeh was spelled after failing to handle the heavy track when sixth in the Listed $170,000 Albury Gold Cup (2000m) at Albury on March 18.
The Henry Dyer trained Beirut has also been nominated for the Aurie’s Star Handicap and is another working her way up through the classes with wins at her last four starts, her latest being in a 1200m Mares’ Open Handicap at Caulfield on July 16.
Co-trainers Lee and Anthony Freedman have nominated Ruettiger who is a last start winner over the same course and distance as the Aurie’s Star Handicap when he beat Voodoo Lad in the Listed $150,000 All Victorian Sprint Series Final.
Randwick trainer John Sargent has nominated ex-Hong Kong trained sprinter Smart Volatility who won the Listed $160,000 Crowe Horwath Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton on July 13 at his second run for the stable.
Smart Volatility is also nominated for the weight for age Group 2 $175,000 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.
Premiership winning trainer Darren Weir has nominated stalemates Magnus Reign and Sooboog for the 1200m sprint down the Flemington straight.
Sooboog ran a slightly improved race last start when fourth in the Listed $120,000 A.R. Creswick Series Final (1200m) at Flemington on July 9 while Magnus Reign finished second to Aurie’s Star Handicap entry Mighty Like from the Mick Price stable in a BenchMark 90 Handicap over this course and distance on July 23.
