The 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara field has been released and talented filly Najoom now looks likely to miss out on a start in the race after being named the second emergency.

Najoom stamped herself as a leading Tattersall’s Tiara contender with dominant victories in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on May 9 and the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1350m) at Doomben on May 23, but her lack of prizemoney means that she has missed out on a guaranteed place in the field for the Group 1 event.

The Stradbroke Handicap is set to be the key form guide for the Tattersall’s Tiara and winner Srikandi has the chance to record a second straight victory at the highest level of racing, but will need some luck in running after being allocated the outside gate.

Srikandi started her winter campaign with an impressive win in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) at the Gold Coast on April 25, but she was disappointing in both the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 9 and the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) at the same venue before he was the beneficiary of an outstanding ride from Kerrin McEvoy in the Stradbroke Handicap.

Lumosty started the Stradbroke Handicap as a clear favourite, but she was caught wide throughout the Group 1 event and she tired badly in the final stages of the race to finish tenth.

The talented filly has been allocated barrier ten for the Group 1 event and jockey Mark Zahra has been booked to replace Corey Brown in the saddle.

The other race that will be a key form guide for the Tattersall’s Tiara is the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) that was taken out by Hazard at Doomben on June 6.

Hazard has won four of her last five starts and she has taken out the Ern Jensen Funerals Handicap (1100m) at Caulfield on May 2 and the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on May 16 before she upset Catkins to win the Dane Ripper Stakes.

Catkins clearly did not perform at her best in the Dane Ripper Stakes and she will likely need to improve on that effort to finally record a maiden win at Group 1 level after previously finishing in the placings in the 2013 and 2014 Myer Classic, the 2014 Coolmore Classic, the 2015 Canterbury Stakes and the 2015 Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

Other mares that are set to back-up in the Tattersall’s Tiara after running in the Dane Ripper Stakes include placegetter Bound For Earth, Team Snowden-trained Rose Of Choice, talented mare Peron and Robert Smerdon-trained Politeness.

Avoid Lightning finished third behind Cosmic Endeavour in the Tattersall’s Tiara and has the chance to go two better in this year’s race, with trainer Les Bridge buoyed by the wet weather that has hit Queensland in recent days.

Kiwi Group 1 winner Diademe, Gai Waterhouse Classic winner Real Surreal, the in-form Solicit, Kris Lees-trained Thump, Estonian Princess and  the Team Snowden-trained duo of Dublin Lass and Peggy Jean round out the 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara field.
