Myer Classic the Target for Silent Sedition

Trainer Andrew Noblett has revealed the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Derby Day will figure as the major target for stable star, when she returns to racing in the 2016 Spring Carnival.

Silent Sedition was a strong and consistent performer for Noblett through major three-year-old races through the recent autumn racing season, and has not been seen at the races since running a close second to Abbey Marie in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on May 7th.

Noblett told Racing Victoria the War Chant filly hurt her back upon returning to the paddock for a spell and while preparations have been somewhat altered as a result, the rising four-year-old remains on track for a 2016 Myer Classic campaign.

“She had a small setback when she went out. She hurt her back,” Noblet said.

“So we left her out and gave her another month.

“She’s a bit behind, but she got the all-clear last week, all recovered.

“She just needs a bit of the water-walker, so she’s another 2-3 weeks away from coming back into the stables.”

Silent Sedition stamped herself as a filly to follow upon debuting to racing for third in the Skilled @ Darley Maiden Plate (1109m) in September 2015, continued to impress in placing second in the Grand Hotel Frankston BM78 (1200m) and third in the Yellowglen Plate (1400m) before ending her maiden campaign a pleasing fourth in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m) on Cox Plate Day.

Breaking through for a maiden race win in the Vic Statewide Conveyancing Maiden (1200m) first-up this year, the filly out of Fiorentina posted her first stakes win in the Listed Bendigo Guineas (1400m) on March 19th.

Placing second in the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap (1600m) third-up on April 9th, Silent Sedition posted a career-best result to date with a strong win in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) on April 23rd, in what was her only other start prior to the Australasian Oaks.

The Myer Classic will run as one of four Group 1 races at Flemington on Derby Day, October 29th 2016.
