Myer Classic 2015: Slightly Sweet In Perfect Condition

Slightly Sweet is set to contest the 2015 Myer Classic and trainer Jason Coyle believes that he could not have the talented mare any better ahead of the Group 1 event at Flemington on Saturday.

Slightly Sweet was sent to the spelling paddock after she scored a fast-finishing victory in the Group 3 Carr Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on April 18 and she has performed well without winning in all three of her race starts during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.

The Charge Forward mare returned to the races in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens and she stormed home late to finish fourth behind Catkins and the race was not run to suit when she finished seventh behind Peeping in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 26.

Slightly Sweet was blocked for a run for the majority of the straight in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on October 17, but she made up a great deal of ground when she found clear running and finished fourth behind La Passe, Solicit and Jessy Belle.

Coyle said that he has been delighted with the way that Slightly Sweet has performed in each of her race starts this preparation and he believes that she is ready to peak in the 2015 Myer Classic this weekend.

“She has been set for one race this preparation,” Coyle said.

“She has made good progress throughout her preparation and hopefully we have got it right come the weekend.

“Leading into the race we just wanted to see a really big positive and hopefully a flashing red light on her leading onto the mile at the bigger track and I think that is what we got.

“Obviously with a bit of luck on the day we couldn’t have finished a little bit closer, but I was happy with the way she pulled up.

“I am really happy with the horse, she has been targeted this whole prep for this one race and at this stage we haven’t had a negative on her.”

Slightly Sweet is currently available at 2015 Myer Classic odds of $14 with Ladbrokes, while Stay With Me ($4.20) is a clear favourite from Royal Descent ($6), Azkadellia ($8), Miss Rose De Lago ($10), Abidewithme ($12), May’s Dream ($13) and Politeness ($13).

You can score the best Myer Classic odds with leading online bookmaker Ladbrokes, who are offering Best Tote or Starting Price +20% for every race at Flemington on Saturday.
