Despite having never won over less than 2000m, Peter Moody-trained import My Quest For Peace is set to again tackle the a-grade sprinters in Saturday week’s $1.36 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

The five-year-old, who ran 10th in last year’s Melbourne Cup, finished off solidly for seventh in the Doomben 10,000 and owners OTI Racing have suggested he will be given a crack at Queensland’s most prestigious race.

“My Quest For Peace now likely to run in Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap on Saturday week. Allocated 54.5kgs. Exciting opportunity for owners,” the official OTI twitter account said.

Formerly prepared by high profile international trainer Luca Cumani, the future stallion prospect is having his first campaign for Moody.

The leading Victorian trainer said in the lead-up to the Doomben 10,000 he has “never seen an import with a better turn of foot” and that he was keen to have a “red-hot go at the Stradbroke” with the son of Galileo.

The Caulfield Cup fifth placegetter has raced over the Stradbroke trip of 1400m just once in his career and that was on debut as a two-year-old in 2010. My Quest For Peace was a Group 3 winner over 2400m in the UK and also won over 2800m at Listed level.

With 54.5kg, he will carry 3.5kg less than topweight Buffering.

Meanwhile, Darley trainer Peter Snowden has confirmed Stradbroke favourite Epaulette will run in the winter glamour race regardless of whether he receives an inoculation for a possible trip to England for the July Cup.

If Darley did want to head to the UK, Epaulette would require an inoculation this week, something that has “knocked around” horses in the past.
