Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker will be tuning up his Doomben 10,000 winner Music Magnate for the Group 1 $2.5m Darley T J Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 1, the first day of the 2017 ‘The Championships’.

Music Magnate recorded Baker’s first Group 1 winner as a standalone trainer when he stormed home to win the Group 1 $750,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1350m) at Doomben during the this year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival.
The Written Tycoon five year old has recovered from a virus that keep out of the Spring Carnival after finishing sixteenth to Under The Lourve in the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 11 and has pleased Baker since he has been back in the stable.
“The form around him seems to have held up pretty well through the spring carnival, so I think we have to aim big and if it doesn’t work out we’ve always got other options and could potentially head back up to Brisbane,” Baker told racing.com.
“He’s been back in work for a couple of weeks and we’re very happy with him.
“The horse looks great and he’s moving well and I’m very much looking forward to seeing him back on the track.”
Before Baker took Music Magnate to Brisbane for the Winter Carnival, the then four year old had worked his way up through the classes with his best win being the Group 3 $150,000 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 16.
Baker has also found another top liner sprinter in three year old Winning Rupert who returned from a spell last Saturday to keep his winning record intact with a runaway victory in the QTIS 3yo Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm.
Winning Rupert is now on track to run in the $2m Magic Millions 3yo Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 14.
Music Magnate is the winner of just over $825,000 in prizemoney from six wins, four seconds and one third from thirteen starts while Winning Rupert has collected $297,500 from his three wins from three starts.
