The Team Hawkes trained filly has rocketed up the market order for the Group 1 $3.5m Tooheys New Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on April 5 and is now the second favourite at $9 behind Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquakewho heads the betting at $2.85.

Mossfun ($2.90 favourite), by the one of the best wet weather sires in the country, Mossman, was able to handle the soft conditions to perfection and drew away in the straight to score a four lengths win over long shot Press Report ($51) and the Tony McEvoy trained Risen Form Doubt ($4.80).

Winning rider James McDonald had Mossfun sitting at the leader Law’s girth before letting her go at the 300m and the little filly had no trouble in recording her third win from as many starts.

“She’s so professional and obviously goes very well in the wet,”  McDonald said.

“That’s a couple of handy aces to have up the sleeve going forward.”

Michael Hawkes said that Mossfun has always shown plenty of ability and will now head towards the Golden Slipper possibly without another run.

“I’ve always loved this filly and she smashed them,” Hawkes said.

“From day one she just kept improving.

“Some people under-rated her on the Inglis Nursery win but she is exposed now.

“There is no decision on whether she will have another start before the Slipper. She may go straight there.

“She is an athlete and may not need to run again.”
