Moshe To Join Sister At Moody Stables

Moshe is set to join his older sister Black Caviar’s stable, with the three-year-old now set to be trained by Peter Moody.

The owners of Moshe opted for a change of trainer after the horse failed to perform at Caulfield a fortnight ago.

Syndicate manager Roy Higgins said that Moshe would join Moody’s stable after a month long spell.

”He (Moshe) had to be taken out at the gates at Moonee Valley and then he really disappointed us at Caulfield, so it was mentioned that Moody have a go with him and after a vote returned 90 per cent in favour, I went to Peter,” Mr Higgins said.

Moshe had been trained by Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes prior to the recent change.

”I also spoke to John (Hawkes) and he told me that he had good horses come into his stable and some leave, and said it was the owners’ decision and wished the group luck,” Mr Higgins said.

Moshe, while not having the same unbeaten record as his sister, has won an impressive three of his five race starts, however, his owners feel he is capable of more.

The horse is sure to be a valuable breeding prospect due to his full relation to Black Caviar, and one or two Stakes wins would only add to that worth.

While the Hawkes family will miss out on training the promising Moshe, they have acquired the recently purchased half-brother to both Black Caviar and Moshe, who was bought at the Sydney Easter Yearling Sales for an extraordinary $1.025 million.
