The Moore stable will desperately attempt to produce their first Caulfield Cup winner when they line up Mighty Highfor the $2.5 million race tomorrow.

Trainer John Moore and his son George Moore are hoping the five-year-old gelding can provide them with both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup tropheys.

“I’m aware of the record book as far as my grandfather (George Moore Snr) was concerned in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and I know what it would mean to my Dad if we could win one of them,” George Moore said.

“We’ve taken horses all over the world – Australia, Dubai, Singapore, England – and we’ve run placings every time.

“We just want that first win.”

The youngest of the Moore trio has been monitoring Mighty High’s progress in Australia while his father remains in Hong Kong.

“It would be very nice to complete that part of the puzzle as far as the family heritage is concerned,” John Moore said.

“The 2400 metres is his best distance, but I’m very confident he will run 3200 (in the Melbourne Cup).

“And I know the horse is cherry ripe, George has done a really good job with him.”

The lightly raced Mighty High has won four of his 16 career starts, including the Group 1 Champions & Chater Cup in May.
