Since 1950, the only mare to take out the Brisbane feature was Cinque Cento in 2007.

The trainer of Cinque Cento was Peter Moody and the leading Victorian trainer has a another strong chance to break the mares’ hoodoo this weekend.

Moody has set last year’s runner-up for Lights Of Heaven for the $500,000 race and it would take a bold individual to bet against him.

Last year when he declared the Brisbane Cup was the main aim for the classy mare not only did she win, she bolted home by three lengths.

A $3.60 equal favourite, Lights Of Heaven takes strong form into the race. The Caulfield Cup placegetter has won her two most recent starts including traditional lead-up race the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes.

During her Brisbane stint last year, the five-year-old showed she thrives in the Queensland conditions as runner-up finishes in the Hollindale Stakes and Doomben Cup were followed by big wins in the Eagle Farm and Brisbane Cups.

Fit and primed for the race, the daughter of Zabeel is perfectly poised to add a second Group 1 to her resume after winning the 2011 Schweppes Oaks as a three-year-old.

The main danger to preventing Doomben Cup success for Lights Of Heaven appears to be Chris Waller’s import Foreteller.

The six-year-old is in career-best form and joins Lights Of Heaven on the top line of betting.

Moody’s mare got the chocolates by a half-length when Foreteller came second in the Hollindale but the tough stayer showed his ability in the top grade when winning the Ranvet Stakes (2000m) in March.

The pair will get an early look at each other, with Foreteller drawn in barrier four and Lights Of Heaven barrier five.
