Trainer Peter Moody is feeling the pressure ahead of Black Caviar's next run
With Black Caviar’s next assignment just days away, trainer Peter Moody has told of the mounting pressure that comes with training the world’s best racehorse.
Black Caviar will take on the BTC Cup field at Doomben Racecourse this Saturday in the attempt to claim her 13th unbeaten victory.
When asked whether he was feeling the pressure leading up to Saturday’s race, Moody responded with “yeah for sure”.
Moody admitted that he constantly fears the day that his super mare is beaten, but is hoping that day will not be anytime soon.
“I really do fear it but hopefully it’s not for a while yet,” Moody said.
Despite the pressure that is associated with training a horse like Black Caviar, Moody wouldn’t change it for the world.
The trainer has told that the public’s reaction to the champion sprinter has made all the hard work worthwhile.
“It’s amazing that the public have just warmed to her,” Moody said.
“It’s great for racing.”
Black Caviar’s last start was in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes, where she blitzed the quality field that included the talented Hay List, by an incredible three lengths.
Moody feels honoured to be associated with a world class talent such as Black Caviar.
“I’m just privileged to be the one standing beside her,” Moody said.
“She makes me look pretty good.”
The trainer felt a special connection with Black Caviar even before he purchased her at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sales in 2008.
“I was pretty confident that I wasn’t going home without her,” Moody said.
Black Caviar will face seven competitors this weekend as she attempts to further her unbeaten record in the BTC Cup.
