Trainer Peter Moody has been charged over a positive swab result

Racing Victoria stewards have charged top Melbourne trainer Peter Moody for presenting Lethal Arrow to race with prohibited substance in his system at Pakenham on May 17.

Lethal Arrow won the Schweppes 0-68 Handicap over 1,300 metres on the day, however, his victory is in question after producing a positive swab.

The five-year-old gelding was found to have the substance Oripavine in his system, which can act as a performance enhancer.

Moody has continuously protested his innocent since being made aware of the positive result in June, insisting it was caused by contaminated feed.

Lethal Arrow has since won three of his five starts this preparation, all without any positive readings.

The Snaadee gelding has won six of his 15 race starts and has accrued close to $100,000 in prize money.

The decision to charge Moody over the test results comes as he was forced to defend himself against allegations that the majority of his stable is under investigation for drug test discrepancies.

The accusations were made by an unnamed leading Sydney trainer, however, Racing Victoria maintain that Lethal Arrow is the only Moody horse currently under investigation.
