Money For Lake Geneva In Silver Shadow Stakes Betting

Lake Geneva has been backed into 2015 Silver Shadow Stakes odds of $3.20 and is currently a narrow favourite in betting markets for the Group 2 event that will be held at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Team Hawkes have had a very poor run with favourites in recent weeks, but punters did not waste any time throwing their support behind the daughter of Fastnet Rock and she was quickly backed from $3.50 into $3.20.

Lake Geneva started her racing career with a very unlucky second in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on January 31 and she went on to finish third in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 28, the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21 and the Group 3 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 11.

The three-year-old was not overly impressive when she started her autumn campaign with a win in the Sigma Plate (1000m) at Hawkesbury on August 6, but she is sure to have taken plenty of benefit out of the first-up run.

Kimberley Star has recorded three wins on the trot during the winter period and she is currently on the second line of Silver Shadow Stakes betting markets at a quote of $3.60.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse believes that there are a number of similarities between Kimberley Star and San Domenico Stakes winner Japonisme and there is no doubt that the Star Witness filly has a clear fitness edge over her rivals after recording three straight wins since July 1.

Kimberley Star will be joined in the 2015 Silver Shadow Stakes field by stablemate Speak Fondly and the Northern Meteor filly has been backed from $5 into $4.60 in early betting for the Group 2 event.

Speak Fondly took out the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 14 before she failed to fire in the Golden Slipper, but she has trialed well ahead of her 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

Team Snowden-trained Kangarilla Joy has been a slight drifter in Silver Shadow Stakes betting after making a winning debut at Warwick Farm on August 5, while Widden Stakes winner Fireworks has been backed from $7.50 into $7.

Godolphin-owned Italy is the only horse not available at single figure Silver Shadow Stakes odds and she is chasing her first race win since she took out a maiden at Canterbury in February.

The 2014 Silver Shadow Stakes was won by Bring Me The Maid, who went on to start the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) as favourite.
