Money For A Time For Julia In 2015 Oakleigh Plate Betting

Talented mare A Time For Julia has been backed into 2015 Oakleigh Plate odds of $12 and is a clear market mover in betting for the Group 1 event at Caulfield tomorrow.

A Time For Julia opened at a quote of $17 when the Oakleigh Plate field was released earlier in the week, but there has been consistent support for the Peter Moody-trained mare and she is now on the fifth line of betting.

The Redoute’s Choice mare has not been seen at the races since she finished eighth behind Deep Field in the Group 2 Salinger Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day, but trainer Peter Moody could not be happier with the five-year-old heading into the 2015 Oakleigh Plate after she performed strongly behind Black Caviar Lightning Stakes winner Lankan Rupee in a barrier trial over 800 metres at Cranbourne on February 9.

“It was a super trial, I take great heart from that trial and I have kept her fresh for the Oakleigh Plate,” Moody told TVN earlier in the week.

“She galloped superbly here this morning.

“She’s down in the weights and I think she’s going to be a big player.

“I think she gets a great chance.”

While A Time For Julia has been the best-backed runner, Godolphin filly Earthquake remains on top of Oakleigh Plate betting markets and is currently available at a quote of $5.50 to record a second win at the highest level of racing.

Earthquake will be returning to the races for the first time since she finished an unlucky eighth in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 1, but she has impressed by winning two barrier trials at Cranbourne on January 29 and February 9 and she will carry just 50.5 kilograms in the Oakleigh Plate.

Vain Queen will be making her debut at Group 1 level in the Oakleigh Plate and has remained steady at a quote of $6 since the final field was released earlier in the week.

The Artie Schiller mare was sent to the spelling paddock after she recorded a dominant two and a half lengths victory in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on November 6, but does not have a particularly strong record at Caulfield.

The only other horse that is available at single figure Oakleigh Plate odds is Atmospherical, who is available at a quote of $8.50 after she finished third behind Chautauqua in the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes (1100m).

There has been a sprinkling of support for Lord Of The Sky ($19 into $15), Iconic ($15 into $12), Under The Louvre ($31 out to $20) in the 2015 Oakleigh Plate betting market with Ladbrokes, while It Is Written ($21 out to $34), Sistine Demon ($41 out to $51), Whittington ($71 out to $101) and Eloping ($21 out to $26).
