Miss Rose De Lago was taken straight to the front by jockey Opie Bosson in the early stages of the race and she controlled the speed before she kicked away from her rivals at the top of the straight to record a dominant victory.

Trainer Danny O’Brien was thrilled to see Miss Rose De Lago return to winning form in the Ladies Day Vase following her brave fourth in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on September 12 and he confirmed that she would make her Group 1 debut in the Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day before she returns to Perth for the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m).

“She did win first-up here over 1200, but we probably haven’t had her in the right races until today and the 1800 she won two starts ago,” O’Brien said.

“She is a really strong mile mare, possibly 2000, but she hasn’t been at those distances since we have had her.

“She is an Encosta and he is a great stallion, but we have found with them that they get better as they can to five and six.

“She came over from Perth and we have kept her lightly-raced over the spring to possibly go back for the Railway.

“The obvious race to run in before then is the Myer.”

Bosson is set to ride dominant Caulfield Cup favourite Mongolian Khan in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) and the New Zealand-based hoop is sure to take plenty of confidence from his perfectly-timed front-running ride.

“Last start she played up in the barrier a little bit, missed it by half a length, but today she jumped well,” Bosson said.

“She raced a bit keen and I thought that we might be going a bit quick, but she won quite easily in the end.

“She rounded the turn really nice and as soon as I gave her a click, she quickened really nicely for me.”

Miss Rose De Lago is currently available at 2015 Railway Stakes odds of $26, while Black Heart Bart ($4.80) is a clear favourite from Disposition ($8.50), He Or She ($9), Wink And A Nod ($10), Delicacy ($11) and Amovatio ($11).

Ladbrokes offered Best Tote or Starting Price +20% for five races at Caulfield today and they have the same offer available for every single race on Caulfield Cup Day.
