Miss Cover Girl’s wide barrier a concern in Geroge Moore Stakes

Magic Millions bound Miss Cover Girl’s wide barrier in the Group 3 $200,000 Channel 7 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday is a concern for trainer Kelly Schweida.

Schweida is a little uncertain where Glen Colless will end up on Miss Cover Girl who will jump from the outside gate in the twelve horse field.

“The alley is definitely a worry,” Schweida told Queensland Racing News.

“She’s better off racing off the pace but there doesn’t look to be a lot of speed in the race and you can get caught wide if they run along slow.

“I don’t know where she’ll end up from that alley.”

Miss Cover Girl is returning to Brisbane racing after running third to Nayeli in the Group 3 $125,000 City Tattersalls Club Nivison (1200m) at Randwick on October 17.

Schweida has keep her up to the mark with Deagon barrier trial win on November 17 and good performance in the George Moore Stakes will clear the way for a Magic Million Race Day appearance on January 9.

The Eagle Farm trainer has pencilled in the Listed $175,000 Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m) at Doomben in a fortnight as her final Magic Millions lead up run, but Schweida is yet to determine which race she will contest.

“There’s three races she’s eligible for on Magic Millions day,” Schweida said.

“She can run in the Magic Millions Cup, the Magic Millions fillies and mares race or the Magic Millions QTIS race,” he said.

“Buffering will go for one of them so that will probably rule that out but who knows with the others.”

In a tight betting race Miss Cover Girl is sharing favouritism for the George Moore Stakes at $5.50 with Tony Gollan’s stablemates Temple Of Boom and Didntcostalot.

Fontelina, also from the Gollan stable, is on the second line of betting with the consistent Architect at $6.50.
