Miracles Of Life Draws Inside for Diamond

The fairytale Blue Diamond dream is well and truly alive for Adelaide trainer Daniel Clarken after gun filly Miracles Of Life drew the inside barrier for Saturday’s $1 million two-year-old race at Caulfield.

While the Blue Diamond field is littered with runners from the major Melbourne stables, Miracles Of Life is the sole Adelaide contender.

Before markets were pulled down prior to the announcement of the field the boom youngster was an equal favourite with Darley filly Guelph.

Both fillies have shown terrific lead-up form but it is Miracles Of Life who has the early advantage after Guelph drew wide in barrier 13.

Miracles Of Life won the first two starts of her career at Morphetville by margins of 5 1/2 lengths and nine lengths respectively before travelling to Melbourne for a 4 1/2 length annihilation of her competition in the Listed Blue Diamond Fillies’ Preview on January 26.

Guelph hasn’t been quite as convincing in her wins but has proven herself to be an advanced two-year-old and will chase a third consecutive win this weekend.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel is one of three Blue Diamond chances for the Darley operation.

Their second major player, Metastasio, will also be out to score a third straight win but will have to do it from a tricky position after drawing one barrier inside Guelph in 12.

Darley’s third runner Montsegur drew a more favourable barrier eight position.

Mark Kavanagh left Flemington impressed on Saturday after Fastnet Rock filly Casquets took out the Talindert Stakes in fighting fashion but may be ruing his decision to back her up in the Blue Diamond after she received the outside barrier 16 position.

Other notable Blue Diamond barrier positions include Peter Moody’s Thermal Current (6) and Stephen Theodore’s spruik colt Crack A Roadie (9).
