The De Bortoli Wines Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill today has been decimated with scratchings due to Sydney’s wet weather leaving only six runners to contest the $125,000 Group 3.
Rosehill was rated a heavy 9 this morning with another 14mm off rain falling overnight to give a total of 58mm for the week, forcing a total of twenty-seven scratchings.
The Chris Waller trained Red Tracer is now the short priced favourite for the Millie Fox at $1.45 ahead of Jersey Lily ($6.50) and Montana Flyer ($7.50).
The Group 2 $200,000 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) remains virtually in tact with Aeronautical and the emergency Falklands the only scratchings.
The Ron Leemon trained Manawanui remains the short priced favourite at $1.80 with Hot Snitzel at $5.50 and the Peter Moody trained Moment Of Change at $7.50.
Leemon is hoping to turn the tables on Hot Snitzel after running second to him in the Group 2 $175,000 Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm two weeks ago.
“I thought we should’ve won the race but unfortunately by the time we got going again the race was over and we just couldn’t catch him,” Leemon said.
“Going on that there I’m quietly confident we can win but I’m also realistic, things go wrong in races.
The Group 2 Patinack Farm Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) has stood up with only two scratchings, the John O’Shea trained Faustus and outsider Diamond Costa.
O’Shea had indicated earlier in the week that a start for his promising colt Faustus was unlikely if the track was going to be rain affected.
The Gai Waterhouse two year old Pierro is $2.60 favourite for the Silver Slipper ahead of the John Thompson trained Hussousa at $4.20, then followed by Nediym’s Quest ($6), and Assassinate and Meidung both at $7.
