Over the next two Saturday’s the Gold Coast takes centre stage in Australian racing with the Magic Millions carnival getting into top gear.

Today is the last chance of many horses to qualify for the next Saturday’s multi-million dollar raceday programme.

A hour up the road at Eagle Farm some morning showers are about but expected to clear by the time the races are under way.

It is mostly sunny in Sydney for Warwick Farm and Perth for the Ascot meet.

Melbourne is expected to have showers but not enough to downgrade the dead Caulfield track.

Adelaide is getting the worst of it.

It is hot yet thunderstorms and rain are predicted for the afternoon which may effect the Morphettville track rating.

Queensland’s UNiTAB is conducting a first four jackpot of $135,350 on the Bat Out Of Hell (900m) at the Gold Coast on at 4.20pm Queensland time.

The NSW TAB has a $50,000 big six jackpot operating.

The Doveton Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield at 2.50est is the lone black type event run in Australia today – it is a Listed event.
