Trainer Gerald Ryan is thrilled with the condition of outstanding three-year-old Menari ahead of Saturday’s featured Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Menari has shown plenty of ability throughout his short racing career so far, but he has undoubtedly gone to another level this campaign and will take his place in the Golden Rose field off the back of two dominant wins from as many starts this season.

Ryan told AAP that regular hoop Josh Parr partnered the Snitzel colt in a strong piece of work at Rosehill Gardens on Monday morning and he is confident that the horse is primed for another big performance and maiden win at the highest level in the Golden Rose 2017.

“Josh Parr came out and rode him trackwork this morning (Monday), Ryan said.

“The horse is terrific and Josh thinks the same.

“He has done everything right since his last win.”

A smart winner of two Sydney barrier trials prior to making his competitive debut in January, Menari immediately stamped himself as a colt to follow when he justified odds-on favouritism with a dominant win in the TAB Rewards Plate (1100m) on January 14th.

The colt out of Isurava made a commendable transition to black type company when second behind Pariah in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) on January 28th, but failed to fire when resuming from a freshen-up for fifth in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) on March 4th.

Third past the post in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) before being relegated to fourth in protest, Menari had clearly had enough by the time he tailed off to finish tenth in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Resuming this time for an impressive win in the Listed The Rosebud (1200m), Menari defeated a strong field with complete ease in the Group 2 The Run To The Rose (1400m) last time out on September 9th.

Menari is currently considered a $1.90 favourite in early 2017 Golden Rose betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
