Trust In A Gust has not been seen at the races since he finished a close second behind Red Bomber in the VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m) at Caulfield on April 18 after he missed out on starts in both the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) and Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) following an unlucky injury he suffered getting on a plane to Brisbane.

The Keep The Faith entire was originally set to be retired from racing to stand at Swettenham Stud for the upcoming breeding season, but connections opted to postpone the retirement of the two-time Group 1 winner and he will return to the races in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 8 ahead of the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) three weeks later.

“He’ll resume in two weeks,” Weir told AAP

“He’ll run in the 1200 at Flemington and then he’ll run in the first Group One, the Memsie.

Brad (Rawiller) galloped him on Saturday and said he’s in good order.”

Trust In A Gust started his racing career with a close third behind Iconic in the VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo on March 16 and he worked his way through the grades impressively before he stamped himself as one of the best milers in Australia during his 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

He started his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival with a narrow win in the Don’t Hold Back Handicap (1200m) at Moonee Valley on August 23 and he was narrowly denied a maiden black-type win by Atlante in the Listed Drummond Golf Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 6 before returned to winning form in the Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on September 20.

Trust In A Gust made his Group 1 debut in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 28 and he was able to deny likely Australian Horse Of The Year Dissident to win the $400,000 event before he proved that victory was no fluke when he carried 56.5 kilograms to victory in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on October 11.

The rising five-year-old was set to chase a third Group 1 victory in the Emirates Stakes at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival, but he suffered an injury in the lead-up to the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day and he was sent to the spelling paddock.

Weir is chasing his first win in the Memsie Stakes after finishing third with Puissance De Lune in 2014.
