Trainer Nigel Blackiston has confirmed that Let’s Make Adeal will be set for the 2015 Melbourne Cup during the Spring Racing Carnival.

Let’s Make Adeal has been set for both the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) and the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) the past two seasons, but she is still chasing her first start in either race.

The Red Ransom mare narrowly missed out on a start in the 2013 Melbourne Cup when she was narrowly beaten by Ruscello in the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day and she just missed out on a start in the Caulfield Cup when he finished third behind Big Memory and Signoff in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on October 11 last year.

Owner Dennis Marks is desperate to see Let’s Make Adeal run in the Melbourne Cup and Blackiston told AAP that he will give the daughter of Red Ransom another opportunity to qualify for the ‘the race that stops a nation’.

“She just missed out on getting a run in the Cups last year and it’s Dennis’s ambition to have her run this year,” Blackiston said.

“She’s having a couple of weeks off in the sun in Queensland before she comes back down for the spring.”

Let’s Make Adeal was sent to the spelling paddock after she finished seventh behind Le Roi in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) at Flemington on November 8 last year, but she returned to racing in outstanding form this preparation.

The six-year-old was only narrowly denied her first race win for almost 18 months when she finished second behind Atlantis Dream in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville on May 2 before she justified favouritism to record a dominant three and a half lengths victory in the Listed Centaurea Stakes (2000m) at the same venue on May 16.

Let’s Make Adeal was sent to Queensland to contest the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2200m) at Doomben on June 13 and she made up ground in the final stages of the race, but she was unable to catch Jetset Lad, Sense Of Occasion or Epingle.

Let’s Make Adeal is currently available at 2015 Melbourne Cup odds of $51 with Ladbrokes, while Japanese stayer Fame Game ($15) remains a narrow favourite from Godolphin-owned Hartnell ($17), Australian Derby winner Mongolian Khan ($17), two-time Group 1 winner Contributer ($21), last year’s winner Protectionist ($21) and Darren Weir-trained Signoff ($21).
