Meetings Abandoned Across Queensland

South East Queensland has been battered with torrential rain all week, the likes of which haven’t been seen the floods of last year.

As a result the ground has been saturated with water and runoff has been causing flash flooding in parts of the region over the last 72 hours.

Current weather forecasts predict no let up in the rain in the coming days either and as a result a number of meetings have been affected.

Listed below are the current situations for the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast – Friday 27th

MEETING ABANDONED

“Following further rain overnight and throughout the morning the meeting scheduled at the Sunshine Coast on Friday, 27th of January, has been abandoned.  Racing Queensland will await decision regarding the fate of meetings across the weekend, before considering what options are available with the feature races programmed at this meeting.”

Ipswich – Saturday 28th

MEETING ABANDONED

“Following further rain subsequent to this morning’s initial track inspection, Stewards have reinspected the track and deemed it unfit for racing this afternoon.

Gold Coast – Saturday 28th

MEETING ABANDONED

“Following a further track inspection the meeting set down for the Gold Coast tomorrow, Saturday, 28th of January, has been abandoned.

Doomben – Saturday 28th

*Awaiting decision*

The Club was positioned to mow the Doomben track yesterday although showers have continued to fall over Brisbane.  A Track inspection will be undertaken at 2pm this afternoon.
