McEvoy On Track To Rosehill Racecourse

Kerrin McEvoy is taking another step on his road to Rosehill when he rides in two barrier trials today.

McEvoy is hoping to prove he is fit to ride on Rosehill Guineas day after narrowly avoiding catastrophe with a fall during a track work session on Tuesday.

“Basically it’s a case of working the muscle soreness out now,” McEvoy said.

He was forced to miss his scheduled rides on Wednesday in Sydney and he even spent time in a hyperbaric chamber desperately trying to increase the speed of his recovery.

The trials did not start well for him though with his first scheduled ride aboard Helmet over before it even began.

Helmet again played up in the barriers costing McEvoy valuable race time and likely costing Peter Snowden a second runner in the Golden Slipper.

Helmet was scratched in a similar manner as favourite before the VRC Sires Produce Stakes and needed a disciplined performance to be cleared by the racing stewards.

Hopefully it doesn’t have a huge effect on McEvoy though who has seven scheduled rides at Rosehill Gardens including a couple of favourites.

Stewards have also granted McEvoy some leniency allowing him to ride Under The Eiffel a half-kilogram over if he is unable to make the 52kg minimum for the Melbourne race horse.
