Manicure qualified for the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares with her first up win in the Listed $125,000 Magic Millions Nudgee Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on December 29 and trainer James Cummings is expecting further improvement from the four year old.

“She’s open to improvement from that first-up run last weekend so this should suit her beautifully second up,” Cummings said.

“Her form before that was strong with a second to Houtzen in stakes grade a couple back.”

James McDonald takes over from Larry Cassidy on Manicure who will jump from the middle of the field from barrier seven in the thirteen horse field.

The lightly raced Manicure has been most consistent with three wins, two placings and a fourth from only seven race starts, only failing to earn a cheque once when she finished well back in the field at her debut run in May, 2017.

Manicure has been installed as the $2.90 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares just ahead of the Chris Waller trained Invincibella at $3.50 and Bjorn Baker’s mare Irithea at $6.50.

Invincibella from barrier three, is also expected to improve on her first up seventh to Manicure in the Magic Millions Nudgee Stakes with Hugh Bowman taking over the reins from James McDonald.
