Magical Milly To Settle Forward In Wyong Magic Millions Classic

Trainer Brent Stanley is not worried about Magical Milly’s wide Wyong Magic Millions Classic barrier draw and he is confident that the promising filly will be able to take up a forward position in the early stages of the race.

Magical Milly missed the start when she made her racing debut in the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 10 and she struggled in the early stages of the race, but she picked up late to finish a more than credible fifth behind Missrock.

Stanley blamed the long time that Magical Milly spent in the barriers for her slow start and he believes that likely leader Claro El Banco will be able to lead her across in the early stages of the Wyong Magic Millions Classic.

“She ran through the line really well,” Stanley told Racing Ahead.

“She drew the inside, was in the gates for a long time and stepped away tardy.

“She got in behind them, got lost and didn’t know what to do, but she ran through the line really good.

“She has had a couple of jump outs since, another one during the week and she arrived at Wyong yesterday morning.

“She has drawn gate seven.

“The leader has drawn outsider her and he will cart her across pretty well and then you have the superstar horses back on the inside.

“Hopefully she can be in the first three or four getting a nice cart across.”

Stanley is confident that Magical Milly will be able to get across from the wide draw and he is happy with her physical condition, but he admits that the daughter of Stryker will face a tough challenge against the likes of Capitalist and will need to perform well to show that she is worthy of a place in the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions Classic on January 9.

“She is a very easy horse to train,” Stanley said.

“She had her one run and went for a spell and it has all gone well.

“It looks like a red-hot field, but it has always been the plan and hopefully we will get up to the Gold Coast.”

Magical Milly is currently available at 2015 Wyong Magic Millions Classic odds of $21 with Ladbrokes, while Capitalist ($1.35) is a dominant favourite from Niccolance ($5), Conchita ($10) and Preferito ($21).
