Owner John Singleton will attempt to make the $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic field with promising filly Dear Demi in tomorrow’s Wyong equivalent.

Dear Demi will run in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic, which was won by Karuta Queen last year on her way to winning the $2 million Gold Coast feature.

Singleton has experienced success in the past  in the Magic Million’s premier event, with Mirror Mirror winning the race in 2006 and Belle Du Jour finishing runner up 2000.

All three horses, including Dear Demi, haven been sired by Dehere and trained by Clarry Conners.

“Belle Du Jour ran second in the Magic Millions then she won the Golden Slipper,” Conners said.

“We’ve had the two get there and they’ve done well.”

Conners confirmed that Singleton has always had his eye on the Magic Millions for Dear Demi, who has had only one previous race start.

“When he gave me the horse he said, `I want her to win the Magic Millions. If you win the Slipper too that’s OK but win the Magic Millions’,” Conners said.

The trainer rates Dear Demi as one of his best chances to win the race.

“She’s more precocious,” Conners said.

“She’s a bigger, stronger filly than both of those (other) fillies.

“Sometimes you think that might be great but she might be a three-year-old. She might be better next prep.”

Dear Demi finished fourth on debut in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes behind Hussousa in October.

Conners believes her run was exceptionally good, despite the result.

“She drew out a bit and got a long way back which wasn’t the plan,” Conners said.

“But she finished the race off terrific.

“We were going to run her again but we couldn’t find a suitable rider so we put her out.”

The filly proved she was back to her best when winning a barrier trial at Warwick Farm last week.

Dear Demi was purchased by Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud for $130,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast.
