Magic Millions 2012 Boasts Huge Numbers

The late entry period for the two feature events of the Magic Millions carnival have now closed with four horses being added to the list at the final hour.

Happy Hussy leads the new contenders as she seeks a victory in the $1 million 3yo Guineas.

Trainer David Payne decided to cough up the late fee as she’s won three of her last four starts against good company down in Sydney.

The other three horses will boost the ranks of the main event $2 million 2yo classic.

The new additions are Charge A Fortune for Rex Lipp, Delagos for Anthony Cummings and General Jackson for Mick Mair.

All up the Magic Millions carnival boasts 560 nominations across the nine event program.

In terms of the major races the following numbers were recorded:

Magic Millions Cup (1400m) – $400,000:

32 nominations headlined by Spirit Of Boom, Latin News, Adnocon, Catapulted, Here De Angles and Atomic Force.

Magic Millions Sprint (1000m) – $200,000:

30 nominations headlined by Midnight At Ascot, Schiffer and Warrior Girl.

Magic Millions Stayers Cup (1800m) – $200,000:

37 nominations headlined by Femina Fashion, Kontiki Park and Diamondsondinside.

Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m) – $200,000:

32 nominations headlined by Angel Of Mercy, Cat’s Pyjamas, Demanding Miss and Gai’s Choice.

There were even bigger results in some of the support races:

  • The $100,000 Magic Millions Maiden Plate over 1200m has 62 current nominations.
  • The $100,000 Magic Millions Country Cup over 1400m has 48 current nominations.
  • The $82,000 Magic Millions Class 6 Plate over 1200m has 49 current nominations.

Final acceptances for both the 2yo Classic and the 3yo Guineas will be known at 9am next Monday.

The seven other events will have final fields released on Wednesday next week.
