Godolphin’s English import Magic Hurricane will continue on his Spring Carnival campaign at Rosehill on Saturday when he lines up in the Listed $100,000 Premier’s Cup (1900m).

Magic Hurricane will be having his second run this preparation after pleasing trainer John O’Shea with a handy first up fifth to Testashadow in the $85,000 Spring Preview (1400m) at Rosehill on August 13.
“It was good to see him go around and run well. He’s getting ready for much longer races later in the Spring, so to get into the race as he did at the finish was encouraging,” O’Shea said.
“We were pleased with his last 100m first up at Rosehill. He’s trimmed up and he’s in the right shape for a horse who has a long spring ahead of him.”
O’Shea had Magic Hurricane racing at his peak during the 2015 Sydney Spring Carnival with a win in the Group 1 $750,000 McGrath Estate Agents Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick and the seven year will be chasing back to back Metropolitan trophies again this year.
Brenton Avdulla takes the ride on Magic Hurricane who is also among the nominations for the Group 1 $3m BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) at Caulfield on October 15.
The betting at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Premier’s Cup has Magic Hurricane marked as a $12 chance while his stablemate Allergic heads the market order at $3.10.
Allergic with James McDonald back in the saddle heads to the Premier’s Cup on the back of a win in the $85,000 Premier’s Cup Prelude (1800m) at Rosehill a fortnight ago and will appreciate the wet track conditions at Rosehill on Saturday with a fifty per cent winning strike rate on rain affected tracks.
The Rosehill track has been rated a heavy 9 after receiving 66mm of rain over the last seven days and with more showers forecast for today and tomorrow, the likelihood of an upgrade is remote.
O’Shea has selected the Group 3 $125,000 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on September 10 as a nice race for Allergic to be heading towards.
“Those Group III and Listed races up to ten furlongs are his bread and butter when he can get his toe in the ground,” O’Shea said.
The Kris Lees trained Singing is also well in contention in the betting at $4 and the stable is expecting another strong showing from the French import following his first up second in a $85,000 BenchMark 93 Handicap at Canterbury on July 23.
