Lucky Hussler started his 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a fast-finishing fourth behind Churchill Dancer in the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on September 12 and he did not have a great deal of luck in running in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26.

The Husson gelding once again found trouble at the top of the straight in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10, but he was eventually able to find clear running and he stormed home late to record his second win at Group 1 level.

Lucky Hussler is set to press on to the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on the final day of the 2015 Melbourne Cup Carnival, but he will have the chance to make it back-to-back wins in the Crystal Mile.

The Toorak Handicap is always the key lead-up race to the Crystal Mile and that will be the case again in 2015 as Lucky Hussler is set to take on the likes of Strawberry Boy and Hopfgarten in the Crystal Mile this weekend.

The other key lead-up race to the Crystal Mile will be the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) that was held at Royal Randwick on October 3.

Both Rudy and Hooked failed to fire in the Epsom Handicap but they will have the chance to bounce back to their best form in the Crystal Mile, while Sons Of John produced the best performance of his career to date to finish third in the Epsom Handicap.

One of the most interesting runners in the 2015 Crystal Mile field is Godolphin-owned Bow Creek, who is set to make his Australian racing debut this weekend.

Bow Creek failed to fire in the Group 2 Bet365 Mile (1622m) at Sandown on April 24 or the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes (1609m) at Royal Ascot on July 11, but before that he scored back-to-back wins in the Group 2 Doom Bar Celebration Mile (1609m) at Goodwood on August 23 and the Group 2 Clipper Boomerang Mile (1609m) at Leopardstown on September 13.

The 2015 Crystal Mile field is rounded out by last start winner Amovatio, Paul Beshara-trained Richie’s Vibe, Godolphin-owned Malice, Seymour Cup winner Turn Me Loose and Tavern Stakes winner Worthy Cause.

You can score the best odds for every runner in the Crystal Mile with Ladbrokes, who are offering Best Tote or Starting Price +20% on every single race at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
