Lucky Hussler A Narrow Favourite In Orr Stakes Betting

Lucky Hussler is currently available at 2016 Orr Stakes odds of $4.60 and he is a narrow favourite in betting for the Group 1 event that will be held at Caulfield on Saturday.

Lucky Hussler opened at $4.80 and equal favourite with Turn Me Loose, but he was quickly backed into $4.60 and went to the top of betting for the opening Group 1 event of 2016.

The Husson gelding scored a second win at Group 1 level when he took out the Toorak Handicap (1600m) during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival and he returned to racing with a soft victory in the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 9.

Turn Me Loose opened as an equal favourite in Ladbrokes Orr Stakes betting market and he has remained steady at $4.80, but he is now on the second line of betting.

The Iffraaj has suffered just the single defeat in four race starts in New Zealand and he took out the Listed Seymour Cup (1600m), Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) and Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) in impressive fashion.

The only other horse that is available at single figure Orr Stakes odds is Chris Waller-trained Boban, who has drifted from $8 out to $8.50 since betting opened earlier in the week.

Boban has scored Group 1 victories in each of his past two first-up starts and he won the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) over the same distance of the Orr Stakes during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.

While Lucky Hussler is currently on top of Ladbrokes Orr Stakes betting markets, it is Godolphin-owned import Bow Creek that has been a market mover and he has been $11 into $10 to record a maiden race win in Australia.

Bow Creek was purchased by Godolphin after he failed to fire in the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes (1609m) during the 2015 Royal Ascot Meeting and he made his Australian racing debut with a fast-finishing second behind Turn Me Loose in the Crystal Mile.

The Shamardal entire was well-backed in the lead-up to the Emirates Stakes, but he could finish no better than 12th and he was found to be lame in the near foreleg after the race.

Bow Creek has performed well in two barrier trials since returning from a stint in the spelling paddock and he has been set for the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m).

Suavito ($15), Fawkner ($15), Entirely Platinum ($17), Stratum Star ($17), Trust In A Gust ($17), Hucklebuck ($17) and Rebel Dane ($17) are the only other horse available at Orr Stakes shorter than $20.
