11 sprinters are set to contest the $120,000 race, with more than half the field offering single figure odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Robbie Laing is set to deliver a triple-pronged attack on the 2014 Christmas Stakes and all three of his runners are offering competitive odds.

Lord Of The Sky is the firm favourite at $3.80, Mr Make Believe is paying $8.50, and Boomwaa sits just outside the single figure odds at $10.

Four-year-old entire Lord Of The Sky was beaten home by rivals Danger Close and Mr Make Believe in the Listed Doveton Stakes (1000m) last time out yet he opened the Christmas Stakes betting market above both.  While he’s just missed out on a placing his last three times out, Lord Of The Sky has won five of his 11 career starts including the Group 3 John Monash Stakes (1100m) in July.

He’ll enjoy the inside run from barrier one with Noel Callow in the saddle, carrying 59.5kg.

Eight-year-old gelding Mr Make Believe was a fast finishing runner-up in the Doveton Stakes on December 6 before finishing fourth in the red Tempo Handicap (1000m) last time out. He will jump from barrier five with Glen Boss to ride.

Three-year-old gelding Boomwaa hasn’t had a win since the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) last November, however he did score a minor placing in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) in August before finishing end of the field in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m).

He was last seen running eighth in the Fiesta Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday where he lost ground over the concluding stages after racing to the front out the gates.

Boomwaa will jump from barrier 10 with Dean Yendall to ride.

Danger Close ($6), Anlon ($6.50), Solsay ($7), and Tried And Tired ($7.50) round out the Christmas Stakes single figure odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.
