The Lindsay Park Team have plenty of ammunition to win the 2019 Group 1 $2m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on November 2 with nine three year olds among the nominations.

Eighty-four three year olds have been entered for the Blue Riband event which is the highlight of a terrific day’s racing on the first day of the four day 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Huntly Castle is the most fancied Lindsay Park entry in the Victoria Derby betting with Ladbrokes.com.au putting the David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Sebring colt out at $14.

Cranbourne based Kiwi trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young also have nine entries with the Holy One heading the team.

The Mark Newnham trained Shadow Hero has been installed the as the $9 favourite following his first up third behind Just Thinkin’ and Subedar in the Listed $150,000 Dulcify Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on September 14.

Just Thinkin’ is one of three Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained three year olds to be among the Victoria Derby nominations and the So You Think gelding is on the third line of betting at $12.

Waterhouse and Bott’s other entries are Sacremento and The Lifeline.

Kiwi colt Quick Thinker is the best of Cambridge trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman’s three entries and has already proved himself on Australian soil with a win in the Group 3 $160,000 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) at Rosehill on August 31.

Ladbrokes.com.au have Quick Thinker on the second line of betting at $10 sandwiched in between Shadow Hero and Just Thinkin’.

The John Sargent trained Aspect Ratio is the only filly nominated for the 2019 Victoria Derby.

First acceptances for the Victoria Derby will be taken at 12 noon (AET) on Tuesday, 22 October.
