Last start winner Like An Eagle (pictured winning the Hareeba Stakes) has reportedly passed away after a fall at Moonee Valley
Promising WA sprinter Like An Eagle has reportedly passed away after suffering a terrible fall in Race 6 at Moonee Valley tonight.
Jockey Damien Oliver was reported to be conscious, talking and able to move his limbs after the fall. He has been taken to Epworth Hospital for observation after complaining of back soreness.
Like An Eagle, by Oratorio out of Stormy Business, was trained by Ross and Clint Price and was competing in his third race outside of Western Australia.
The four-year-old gelding was in top form coming into tonight’s handicap race at Moonee Valley having won the Listed Hareeba Stakes ($100,000) at Mornington last start. Like An Eagle had 11 career starts for six wins and two seconds with prize money totalling $225,200.
Like An Eagle was nominated for the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap.
