Flemington trainer Nigel Blackiston is confident that his Cups’ mare Let’s Make Adeal will bounce back to form after drawing a midfield barrier in the Group 3 $150,000 Bendigo Bank East Malvern MRC Foundation Cup (2000m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The winner of the Foundation Cup, formerly known as the Naturalism Stakes, will gain an automatic entry in the Group 1 $3m BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) at Caulfield on October 17 and that is the result that Blacksiton is hoping for.
“Pleased with barrier 8 for Let’s Make Adeal in Saturday’s Foundation Cup (Naturalism Stks). Pat Moloney’s first ride stable,” Blackiston tweeted.
Let’s Make Adeal could only beat four runner’s home at her first run back from a short break when twelfth of sixteen from the outside barrier in the Listed $120,000 Sheen Group Heatherlie Stakes (1700m) at Caulfield on August 29.
Blackiston has reported that Let’s Make Adeal has pulled up well and is ready to progress towards the Caulfield Cup and the Group 1 $6m Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 3.
“She has come through very well,” Blackiston said.
“Obviously the Heatherlie wasn’t run to suit her; we drew a terrible barrier and we got back a long way.
“She was never a winning start from that barrier.
“I think she can bounce back.
“We haven’t had a great deal of luck at Caulfield, but if we can get a good ride and draw a good barrier for a chance, I am very happy with her.”
Top apprentice Patrick Moloney will be having his first ride on Let’s Make Adeal who is certain to settle in the second half of the sixteen horse field from barrier six if all four emergencies fail to gain a start.
German import Our Ivanhowe is facing a tough task at his first Spring Carnival outing after drawing barrier sixteen in the original draw but could jump from twelve is all the emergencies miss out on a start.
The dual Group 1 winner has been being asked to carry 60kg in the Quality Handicap with Ben Melham taking the ride for Lee and Anthony Freedman.
Lindsay Park trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig’s import Almoonqith has also drawn out in the carpark at barrier eighteen in the original draw and jockey Michael Walker will have plenty of work to do to give six year old every chance.
English import Bold Sniper, also from Lindsay Park, has drawn midfield at eleven and Chris Parnham should have no trouble securing a nice run midfield.
