Let’s Make Adeal Can Finish Top Top Three In P.B. Lawrence Stakes

Trainer Nigel Blackiston is confident that Let’s Make Adeal can finish in the placings when she returns to racing in the Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Let’s Make Adeal has not been seen at the races since she finished seventh in the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) at Royal Randwick on April 19, but she has impressed in two jump out appearances and Blackiston believes that she is ready for the start of her 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

The Flemington-based trainer told Racing Ahead that he was disappointed by Let’s Make Adeal’s three performances during the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, but he is confident that the daughter of Red Ransom is back to her best and can perform well fresh in the P.B. Lawrence Stakes this weekend.

“I am very happy with her,” Blackiston said.

“She has come back bigger and stronger and she is a lot sharper this time in.

“I think that she has matured and if all goes to plan she will have a good campaign.

“I took her to Sydney just to give her the experience up there during the autumn and she didn’t like it at all.

“She didn’t like the heavy tracks and she didn’t like the humidity, so it was a little bit disappointing, but she has had a nice break and she has come back in bigger, stronger and more mature.

“Her two trials have been excellent.

“They will know that she is in the race and with any luck I think that she can finish in the first three.”

The 2014 Melbourne Cup has been the long-term target for Let’s Make Adeal for over 12 months and Blackiston is hoping that the five-year-old can qualify to run ‘in the race that stops nation’, after narrowly missing out last year and replicate the feats of her Grand-dam Let’s Elope, who completed the Caulfield Cup/Melbourne Cup double in 1991.

“I am hoping to head down the same path as the Grandmother,” Blackiston said.

“She is in the Caulfield Cup and the Melbourne Cup and hopefully we can get there.”

Let’s Make Adeal is currently available at the generous quote of $31 in the 2014 P.B. Lawrence Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes Australia, while Puissance De Lune ($3.30) remains a narrow favourite from Lidari ($5), Star Rolling ($6.50) and Foreteller ($7).
