Whobegotyou will miss the Cox Plate after his Spring campaign was ended by leg problems

Mark Kavanagh has announced this afternoon that his Cox Plate hope Whobegotyou has had his spring campaign ended due to leg problems.

Whobegotyou is believed to be suffering from jarring to his joints and will now be spelled for the remainder of the spring racing carnival.

The six-year-old gelding was due to run in the third Cox Plate of his career this month after finishing second behind So You Think in 2010.

Whobegotyou’s last start was in the Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley last month where he finished third after being blocked for a run.

The Street Cry gelding has had a fabulous career thus far spanning 29 starts and six different distances.

Whobegotyou has won ten of his career runs and has earned more than $3.2 million in prize money, making him one of the highest prize money earners in Australia.

The horse had been due to continue his run towards the Cox Plate with a start in the $400,000 Caulfield Stakes at Caulfield this Saturday.

The injury adds Whobegotyou’s name to a growing group of horses who have been forced out of spring contention due to injury, including fellow Cox Plate contender My Kingdom Of Fife.
