Laing has 4 nominations for Sandown Guineas

Trainer Robbie Laing has nominated four three-year-olds for Saturday’s Group 2 $250,000 Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas (1600m) at Sandown.

Victoria Derby fourth placegetter So Si Bon heads up Laing’s nominations which also include Missrock, Stornaway and Wimborne.

So Si Bon ran fourth to Prized Icon in the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on the first day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival last Saturday week while Missrock claimed fifth placings behind $101 outsider Lasqueti Spirit in the Group 1 $1m Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington last Thursday.

Wimborne has been racing in Group company over the Spring Carnival without threatening while Stornaway is chasing his maiden win following a last start third in a 1300m Cranbourne Maiden on November 4.

Premiership winner trainer Darren Weir has nominated two for the Sandown Guineas, the promising Jennifer Lynn and Gratwick.

Jennifer Lynn keeps on improving and is the winner of four of her five race starts, her last three this campaign, including a last start win in the Listed $150,000 Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

Gratwick broke through for his maiden win three starts back in a 1200m Warrnambool Maiden on October 5 but failed to beat a runner home last start when sixteenth to Souchez in the Listed $150,000 Hilton Stakes (1400m) at Flemington last Saturday.

John O’Shea has nominated Morton’s Fork who was narrowly beaten last start when second to Comin‘ Through in the Group 3 $200,000 The Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on Derby and Ciaron Maher has entered the undefeated Ruthven who will be stepping up dramatically in class after winning a 1400m Geelong BenchMark 64 Handicap on October 19.
