Euro Angel opened as an outright $5.50 second-favourite in 2016 Ladies’ Day betting markets on Monday but the mare has continued to receive the greatest share of attention from punters, who have seen the into a current quote of $4.50.

Euro Angel is yet to finish outside the first three through a short but impressive racing career so far and will enter Wednesday’s Group 3 race having posted two wins and three minors through five competitive appearances.

Resuming in June for success in the Trevor Clarke BM78 (1400m), the daughter of Rip Van Winkle was sent for a freshen-up after finishing second behind Daniela Rosa in the Rivette Series Final (1600m) on July 9th.

Sure to have taken plenty of benefit from a first-up run for second in the TAB Rewards BM78 (1400m) on October 3rd, Euro Angel may require some luck in running on Wednesday from barrier 12 but will be partnered by leading hoop Dwayne Dunn.

Shillelagh has continued to receive steady support in 2016 Ladies’ Day Vase betting markets, but the mare has surrendered her position on the top line and is now a $4.60 second-favourite.

A kiwi raider, Shillelagh arrived in Australia for a credible fifth in the November Relaunch BM78 (1200m) on September 17th before beating a talented field to the line in the Ladbrokes Up For The Challenge BM84 (1440m) on October 1st.

Shillelagh is yet to be confirmed as a start in the Ladies’ Day Vase field, and is in fact second emergency for the race.

Only two other runners; Egypt ($7) and Gabella ($7.50) currently figure at 2016 Ladies’ Day Vase odds of less-than $10.

Egypt has produced a number of strong performances through her thirteen career starts leading into the Ladies’ Day Vase; posting two race wins and a further four minors.

Returning to the paddock after running third in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) on March 12th, the daughter of Sebring failed to produce much in either of the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) resuming this time.

Having responded well for sixth in the Grosvenor Engineering Group BM84 (1600m) on September 23rd, Egypt will carry only 55kgs in the Ladies’ Day Vase and will be partnered by Damien Oliver.

Gabella appears as though she will relish a return to mares’ company after failing to figure in the late stages of the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m), and subsequently finishing tenth last time out.

Rocket Commander ($14) and Dulverton ($19) are notable runners currently offered at double-figure Ladies’ Day Vase odds with Ladbrokes Australia.
