La Amistad has not been seen at the races since she scored a dominant four lengths win in the Listed W J McKell Cup (2400m) at Royal Randwick on May 24, but showed that she was ready for a return to racing after she finished at the tail of the field in a barrier trial over 795 metres at Warwick Farm last Friday.

The Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) is the major 2014 Spring Racing Carnival goal for La Amistad, but connections admit that the half-sister to Makybe Diva will need to win plenty of races during her spring campaign to qualify for a place in the 2014 Melbourne Cup field.

La Amistad will face a number of talented rivals in the Rowley Mile on Thursday; with leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller including four runners in the acceptances for the Listed event.

Imported stayer Brigantin will be returning to the races for the first time since he finished fourth in the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) at Royal Randwick on April 19, while Coup Ay Tee will be on the quick back-up after failing to fire at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Veteran stayer I’m Imposing will be taking good form into the Rowley Mile after he finished second behind the talented He’s Your Man in the Listed Winter Challenge (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 2 and Tougher Than Ever will be returning to the races for the first time since he finished at the tail of the field in the same race.

Tony McEvoy won the 2013 edition of the Rowley Mile with Mouro and he will chase back-to-back wins in the Listed event with the talented Mr Chard.

Mr Chard returned to the races with a close third in the Programmed Property Services Handicap (1100m) at Morphettville on July 26 and he finished a tough second behind Group 1 winner Tiger Tees in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 9.

Destiny’s Kiss and Travolta will both carry the top weight of 59 kilograms in the Rowley Mile and will both dropping back in trip significantly after having their last starts over 2400 metres and 2350 metres respectively.

The 2014 Rowley Mile field is rounded out by Sonro, Bouzy Rouge, Scottish Border and Wild And Proud.
