Trainer John Sargent has revealed that talented mare Kirramosa will return to his Royal Randwick-based stable on Monday to begin preparations for her 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign.

Kirramosa won both the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival, but was unable to return to winning form during this year’s spring preparation after missing the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival due to injury.
The Alamosa mare returned to the races with a credible sixth in the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on August 9 and she was scratched from both the Quaddie Handicap (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30 and the Group 3 Tramway Stakes (1400m) on September 6 due to the wet weather in Sydney.
Kirramosa boxed on fairly in both the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 13 and the Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) at the same venue on September 27 and appeared on track for the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), but she was sent to the spelling paddock prematurely after she suffered an injury when she finished towards the tail of the field in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on October 11.
Sargent told Sky Racing HQ that he had been carefully monitoring the hamstring injury of Kirramosa during her stint in the spelling paddock and he confirmed that the four-year-old had now recovered from the setback.
“She is back on Monday,” Sargent said.
“In the Caulfield Stakes she ran to the right and then to the left and she pulled up the next day doing a ham string.
“It took us about three weeks ago until it was 100 percent correct, so she obviously did do some damage behind.
“She has done well since then and she was cleared this week and she will be back in on Monday.”
Sargent is yet to decide what races he will target with Kirramosa during her autumn preparation, but he said that she would likely campaign exclusively in Sydney; with races likes the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21, the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) at the same venue on March 28 and the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on April 11 all potential targets for the Group 1 winner.
“We will aim her towards some of the staying races in Sydney about March and April,” Sargent said.
“It will be good to have her back and it will be good to have her injury free.”
