Crown Oaks winner Kirramosa will miss the rich ‘The Championships’ and the entire Autumn Carnival after being forced to the sidelines with a hoof injury.

Trainer John Sargent is hopeful Kirramosa will make a complete recovery from a hairline fracture to her pedal bone and be back for a Spring Carnival campaign.
“That’s racing,” Sargent told Racenet.
“It’s really disappointing because she was back to her top. She came through that trial so well.
“But then she went sore and what I thought was a stone bruise ended up being a hairline fracture.”
“She will need three months off. One month in her box, one in a yard then another month in the paddock.
“The good news is she should recover from this 100 percent, so I’m confident she’ll be back for the spring.”
Sargent was looking forward to Kirramosa’s return for the Autumn Carnival after the Alamosa mare was impressive winning a 1050m Randwick barrier trial on February 10.
Sargent had entered Kirramosa for the premier Autumn Carnival weight for age race the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on April 11, the second day of ‘The Championships’.
But the Randwick based Kiwi trainer said that Kirramosa would probably have been better suited to the longer Group 1 $1.5m The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill on March 28 and the Group 1 $1.6m Schweppes Sydney Cup (3200m) on the same day of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Kirramosa showed her staying potential as a three year old with victories in the Group 2 $300,000 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) and in the Group 1 $1m Crown Oaks (2500m) both at Flemington during the 2013 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
But she failed to fire in four starts in the Spring of 2014 and Sargent was forced to spell her after she injured a hamstring when eleventh to Fawkner in the Group 1 $400,000 Cathay Pacific Caulfield Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on October 11.
Kirramosa has earned over $840,000 in prizemoney for her connections from four wins and a second from twelve starts.
