Peter Moody’s King’s Rose is out of Saturday’s Doncaster Mile and will travel to Hong Kong for the Group 1 US$1.8m QE II Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin next week.

Moody scratched King’s Rose from the Group 1 $2m Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick when connections decided to take up the offer of the invitation to race at Sha Tin.

Racing New South Wales chief steward Ray Murrihy said that he was notified of the scratching this morning and that there was no special clause requiring stewards permission to scratch from the Group 1.

“The advice I’ve received is the owner has received an invitation to race in Hong Kong,” Murrihy said.

“It’s not a race now that the conditions require stewards permission to come out.”

The former New Zealand mare has been placed at her last two starts at Group 1 level and Moody was going into Saturday’s Doncaster Mile with high hopes.

Two starts back she ran home for third behind Ofcourseican in the $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 24 then she had to race on the pace from a wide barrier when third to More Joyous in the $400,000 Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on April 7.

With the scratching of King’s Rose, Luke Nolen has been snapped up by trainer Mick Kent for Absolutely and Jay Ford has gone onto first emergency Happy Trails who now gets a run.

Trainer Jim Conlan has succumbed to the wet weather and scratched Rekindled Interest and the Craig Carmody trained Single is also an early scratching.
