Kermadec A Clear George Main Stakes Favourite

Kermadec has been backed into 2015 George Main Stakes odds of $2.70 and he is a clear favourite in betting for the Group 1 event that will be held at Royal Randwick tomorrow.

Kermadec opened at a quote of $3 when the George Main Stakes field was released earlier in the week, but there has been consistent support for the son of Teofilo and he is now into $2.70.

The Chris Waller-trained entire has recorded only on win from his past seven starts, but he looks well-placed to return to winning form after finishing fifth in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on August 22 and second in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on September 5.

Royal Descent is currently on the second line of 2015 George Main Stakes betting markets and she has been backed from her opening quote of $4.80 into $4.40.

The consistent mare returned to winning form with a tough victory in the Warwick Stakes and she was far from disgraced when third behind Complacent in the Chelmsford Stakes.

While there has been betting support in early George Main Stakes betting for both Kermadec and Royal Descent, both Pornichet and Lucia Valentina have drifted from their opening quotes of $6.50 out to $7.

Pornichet started his 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a gallant second behind Royal Descent in the Warwick Stakes, but he was settled too far back in the Chelmsford Stakes and he could finish no better than sixth.

Lucia Valentina stormed home late to finish sixth behind Hooked in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on September 5, but she does not have the best second-up record and she finished sixth behind Sacred Falls in the George Main Stakes last year.

Sweynesse also returned to racing in the Tramway Stakes and he is out to $13 in George Main Stakes betting markets after he opened at a quote of $13, while John Sargent-trained Kirramosa has also gone from $13 out to $14.

There has been a sprinkling of support for Moriarty ($101 into $81) in George Main Stakes betting, while Hooked ($12 out to $13), Protectionist ($26 out to $31) and Hauraki ($17 out to $21) have all been on the drift.

Favourites have a strong record in the George Main Stakes in recent years; with Sacred Falls (2014), Shoot Out (2012), Sincero (2011), More Joyous (2010) and Racing To Win (2006) all taking out the race as favourites in the past decade
